Senior Instrument Engineer (Contract)

About the role

Lead and perform Instrument Engineering and Design activities throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare, review, and check Instrument Engineering deliverables, including Instrument Index / Instrument List, Wiring Diagrams and Loop Diagrams, Instrument Calculations, Instrument Specifications and Datasheets, and Engineering drawings and technical documents.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, schedule, and budget
• Review and coordinate Instrument Engineering activities with contractors, vendors, and other disciplines
• Participate in technical and safety studies, including HAZOP, SIL, HAZID/HAZIP, and related project activities
• Review and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering documents, including P&IDs, equipment layouts, datasheets, piping isometrics, plot plans, and related drawings
• Perform technical checking and verification of engineering deliverables prepared by Engineers and CAD Operators
• Participate in client, vendor, and design review meetings and provide technical support when required
• Support procurement activities, including technical evaluation of bidders, RFQ, and Purchase Request packages
• Conduct site visits and short-term site assignments when required
• Coach and mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Instrument Engineering team
• Identify and resolve technical discrepancies between client requirements, project specifications, and engineering standards

About you

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 7–10 years of experience in Instrument Engineering and Design
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Senior Instrument Engineer
• Experience in engineering/design consultancy or industrial projects, preferably in Oil & Gas, Chemical/Petrochemical, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, or Utility industries
• Strong knowledge of relevant international codes, standards, specifications, and engineering practices
• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or other 3D engineering/design software is an advantage
• Experience in Hygienic Design for Food & Beverage or Pharmaceutical projects is an advantage
• Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams
• Strong English communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software
