Intero Integrity Services B.V.

Europe | Remote (hybrid near an Intero office)| 32-40 hours
An inspection shows a client what is wrong. You show them what to do about it.
Are you the integrity engineer people turn to when the inspection data is in and a decision has to be made? Do you enjoy combining fracture mechanics, corrosion growth and sound engineering judgment into advice an operator can actually act on? Then we would like to meet you. We are growing our Integrity team and are looking for our first Senior Integrity Engineer based in Europe.
<h2>About Intero</h2>
Intero Integrity Services helps pipeline operators and industrial companies keep their assets safe, compliant and running. With our own in-line inspection technology (including MFL and UT) we inspect pipelines and installations all over the world and tell clients exactly what condition their assets are in. Headquartered in Tricht, the Netherlands, we have over 40 years of experience and 650+ professionals from 25+ nationalities.

<h3>Your team</h3>
You join a close-knit Integrity team of five, including you: a Principal Integrity Engineer and Team Lead in Vancouver, an Integrity Engineer in Mexico City and two Junior Integrity Engineers in Toronto and Calgary. The team is part of our Data Analysis (DA) department of 52 colleagues.
Together the team delivers 100+ integrity reports a year for clients around the globe. You will be in daily contact with your teammates. The atmosphere is informal, communication is clear and transparent, and the pace follows the workload: some weeks are calm, others are full on. As the first team member in Europe, you strengthen our coverage of European time zones and clients.
<h3>Why this role matters</h3>
An inspection delivers a list of findings. For our clients, especially in highly regulated markets, a list of problems without a solution is not enough. That is where you come in. The Integrity team turns inspection results into a complete solution package: assessments, remaining life, and clear recommendations that help operators make well-founded decisions about the continued operation of their systems. In this role you raise the quality and consistency of that package, review the work of junior engineers, and help develop the tools and methods the team relies on.
<h3>What your week looks like</h3>
Part of your week goes to performing integrity assessments on pipelines, piping, heaters and boilers. The other part goes to supporting business development, developing methods and giving technical support. From day one you will work on Corrosion Growth (CG) reports and Fitness-for-Service (FFS) assessments.
<ul>
<li>Perform Level 1 and Level 2 FFS assessments and advanced Corrosion Growth Analysis (CGA); review or prepare Level 3 FFS assessments where projects require it.
</li>
<li>Review the work of junior engineers, such as Run Comparison reports, dent strain and bending strain analyses, against the applicable codes and standards.
</li>
<li>Act as the technical point of contact for project managers and clients on structural integrity questions, and support proposals and client-facing technical activities.
</li>
<li>Align recommendations with local and national regulations, and build knowledge of codes and standards across jurisdictions.
</li>
<li>Validate and help develop our in-house engineering tools, and write Python or VBA scripts to automate evaluations based on MFL and UT inspection data.
</li>
<li>Set up and maintain internal procedures, technical questionnaires and quality checklists so every deliverable meets client and internal standards.
</li>
<li>Manage several projects at the same time, and flag risks and priorities early.
</li>
</ul>
<h2>What you bring</h2>
<h3>Must-haves</h3>
<ul>
<li>A degree in Mechanical and/or Materials (or Metallurgical) Engineering, ideally a combination of both. A Master's degree is a strong plus.
</li>
<li>At least 5 years of relevant experience in the structural integrity of pressurised equipment, preferably pipelines, including independently performing and reviewing FFS assessments and remaining life calculations.
</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of fracture mechanics and corrosion and fatigue damage mechanisms.
</li>
<li>Working knowledge of API 579 / ASME FFS-1, API 530, ASME B31G, DNV-RP-F101, API 1183, ASME VIII Div. 2 and ASME PCC-2, and of the international regulations for pipeline and pressure equipment integrity.
</li>
<li>Experience with risk assessments and turning results into clear, actionable recommendations.
</li>
<li>Strong mathematics and statistics, including probabilistic methods.
</li>
<li>Programming skills to solve engineering problems, preferably in Python, VBA or MATLAB.
</li>
<li>Mid to advanced-level training in integrity assessment methods.
</li>
<li>You write clear, professional technical reports and explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
</li>
<li>You work independently with minimal supervision, keep your agreements, and are flexible with working hours to collaborate with colleagues in Canada and Mexico.
</li>
<li>You are curious, proactive and a team player who suggests improvements to help the team work better and avoid rework.
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Nice-to-haves</h3>
<ul>
<li>Hands-on experience with finite element analysis (FEA), preferably ABAQUS.
</li>
<li>Experience with creep assessment of boilers and heaters.
</li>
<li>Exposure to Level 3 FFS assessments.
</li>
<li>Experience with pipeline ILI data analysis (MFL/UT).
</li>
<li>Experience with client-facing technical activities or proposals.
</li>
<li>Experience in highly regulated industries.
</li>
</ul>
<h2>Why Intero</h2>
<ul>
<li>Work that makes a difference. Your recommendations directly determine whether critical pipelines and installations can keep operating safely.
</li>
<li>Variety. Pipelines, piping, heaters and boilers; FFS Level 1 to 3, corrosion growth, dent strain and more, for clients all over the world.
</li>
<li>Real influence. You help shape the team's methods, procedures and in-house tools, and see your ideas put into practice.
</li>
<li>International team, flexible set-up. Daily collaboration with colleagues in Canada and Mexico, remote working from Europe, and once or twice a year a visit to our HQ in Tricht.
</li>
<li>Growth. Within one to three years you can take on a larger share of Run Comparison and FFS reviews and expand into dent strain analysis.
</li>
</ul>
<h2>What we offer</h2>
<ul>
<li>A contract for 32-40 hours per week.
</li>
<li>A competitive salary and benefits package, tailored to the country you're based in. Because pay and conditions vary by location, we'll discuss the details with you personally during the process.
</li>
<li>Remote working from Europe, or hybrid if you live near one of our offices with available space.
</li>
<li>Flexible start of the day between 6:00 and 10:00, with occasional early or late meetings to overlap with our North American team.
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Application process</h3>
<ol>
<li>Introductory interview with our recruiter.
</li>
<li>Technical interview with our Principal Integrity Engineer and Team Lead.
</li>
<li>Final interview with Manager and Business Director.
</li>
<li>Job offer.
</li>
