IT Business Analyst II – SQL, SDLC & Automation

Position Overview

We are looking for an individual who combines the analytical and communication strengths of a Business Analyst with the technical curiosity and problem-solving capabilities of a Systems Analyst.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with developers, querying data, investigating software issues, testing functionality, and taking ownership of assignments through successful implementation.

The ideal candidate has experience throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, technical documentation, SQL-based data analysis, software testing, troubleshooting, and implementation support. Candidates with deeper software development, technical testing, systems integration, or automation experience are especially encouraged to apply.

The position also involves supporting process improvement and automation initiatives. Experience with UiPath or other robotic process automation (RPA) technologies is valuable, although candidates with strong technical business analysis backgrounds and the aptitude to learn these technologies will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Documentation

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements through stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, and process analysis.
• Develop functional specifications, business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and technical documentation.
• Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and current-state/future-state process mapping.
• Translate complex business requirements into actionable specifications for development and testing teams.

Software Development Lifecycle & Testing

• Participate throughout the SDLC, from requirements discovery through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop and execute test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios to validate functionality against business requirements.
• Support system integration testing, functional testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Use GitHub to support testing and software delivery workflows, including repositories, issue tracking, pull requests, and collaboration with development and QA teams.
• Document, track, investigate, and validate software defects, working with developers to ensure timely resolution.
• Review system changes, identify potential defects, and verify that delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria.

Technical Analysis & Troubleshooting

• Use SQL to query, investigate, validate, and troubleshoot application data.
• Collaborate with development teams to investigate system behavior, application defects, data discrepancies, and integration issues.
• Analyze system interfaces, workflows, and integration requirements.
• Assist with root-cause analysis and production support.
• Support process improvement and automation initiatives, including requirements, testing, exception handling, and deployment validation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, developers, QA teams, vendors, and project leadership.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and solution demonstrations.
• Support implementation activities, user training, and post-deployment issue resolution.
• Maintain accurate, organized documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or comparable position.
• Strong experience gathering business requirements and producing detailed technical and functional documentation.
• Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
• Hands-on SQL experience for querying, validating, or investigating data.
• Experience developing and executing software test cases and supporting UAT.
• Experience using GitHub in software development or testing workflows, including familiarity with repositories, issues, pull requests, or related QA activities.
• Experience investigating software defects, documenting issues, and collaborating with developers and QA teams.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Miro, or comparable collaboration and documentation tools.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate technical information for business stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Miami.

Preferred Qualifications

• UiPath, robotic process automation (RPA), Power Automate, or similar workflow automation experience.
• Experience with automated testing, GitHub Actions, or CI/CD testing workflows.
• Experience with APIs, JSON, XML, SFTP, EDI, or enterprise integrations.
• Familiarity with Postman or API testing.
• Exposure to application development, systems engineering, or production application support.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, real estate, or large enterprise environments.
• Experience in Microsoft-based technology environments, including .NET applications.

Pay: Up to $120,000.00 per year
