Role Overview

Client is seeking a Senior Java Developer with strong IBM Db2 LUW/UDB experience to design, develop, and optimize enterprise applications that use Db2 on distributed platforms. The role will focus on reliable application integration, efficient data access, and modernization toward scalable distributed and cloud-ready architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• · Design, develop, test, and maintain Java applications and services that interact with IBM Db2 LUW/UDB.
• · Build efficient data-access layers using JDBC, Spring, ORM frameworks, SQL, stored procedures, and database views.
• · Write and optimize complex SQL, analyze execution plans, and work with DBAs to improve application performance.
• · Design RESTful APIs and microservices with appropriate transaction, connection-pooling, resiliency, and observability patterns.
• · Support modernization of legacy applications and migration to distributed or cloud-based architectures.
• · Perform code reviews, unit and integration testing, defect resolution, and production-support activities.
• · Collaborate with platform engineers, DBAs, architects, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders.
• · Create technical documentation and promote secure engineering and software-development best practices.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong Java development experience, including Core Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience developing applications against IBM Db2 LUW/UDB.
• · Advanced SQL skills, including stored procedures, views, joins, transaction handling, and query optimization.
• · Experience with JDBC, connection pooling, ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA, and database error handling.
• · Experience designing REST APIs and distributed enterprise applications.
• · Knowledge of testing, CI/CD, version control, secure coding, and production troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills

• · Microservices and event-driven architecture experience.
• · AWS services, container platforms, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• · Performance engineering and observability for Java and database interactions.
• · Legacy modernization or platform-migration experience.
• · Banking or financial-services domain experience.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
