Senior Java Developer (Open for remote)

As a Senior Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications using modern Java technologies and microservices architectures. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality technology solutions.

In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java 8/11/17+ and Spring Boot.

Build and support scalable microservices-based architectures and distributed systems.

Develop and integrate RESTful APIs across multiple applications and services.

Create automation tools, scripts, and supporting services using Python.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions.

Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and architectural discussions.

Ensure applications meet security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability standards.

What you need to have to be considered

6+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java.

Strong proficiency with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Spring Cloud.

Hands-on experience designing and building microservices architectures and distributed systems.

Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.

Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or service development.

Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and object-oriented programming.

Experience with Git and modern version control practices.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

These will help you stand out

Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Familiarity with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Experience working in Agile and Scrum development environments.

Exposure to cloud-native architecture and container orchestration solutions.

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until September 30th, 2026.

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $60,000 and CAD $95,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience, skillset, and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support physical, mental, and financial well-being.
