We’re looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our client’s engineering team. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Right Balance provides top-tier technology talent for innovative companies in the US. We’re in the top 50 companies to watch in LA.

Engagement Details

Our client is a globally recognized technology company. This role is not for the average Java API developer. It calls for a core understanding of software release management at scale, applied to one of the largest Java projects around, along with a strong foundational understanding of technology in general.

You’ll manage software releases for a major, large-scale Java project and apply strong foundational technology principles to handle complex systems. Dedicated attention to detail is essential.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage software release management at scale for a major Java project.
• Apply strong foundational technology principles to handle complex systems.
• Manage build tooling and dependencies across a large, complex codebase using Maven and Gradle.
• Work with reactive and asynchronous Java components as part of the release and build process.

Availability: Full time. (Remote)

Required Qualifications

• Upper-intermediate to fluent speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
• 5+ years of strong, systems-level Java experience. This is not a general API development profile.
• Core understanding of software release management at scale, with 2+ years of release management experience on large-scale systems.
• 3+ years with build tools: Maven and Gradle .
• 3+ years of dependency management at scale.
• 2+ years of reactive Java and asynchronous Java development.
• Strong foundational understanding of technology in general, beyond framework-level knowledge.
• Dedicated attention to detail.

Nice to Haves

1. Experience with Netty or ServiceTalk (a big plus).
2. Linux networking and socket experience.
