Senior Java Full Stack Developer – Contract

Location: Glasgow or London, UK (5 days onsite)

Experience: 8+ years (mandatory)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer to lead development on a strategic banking platform. You will own code quality, use AI tools to drive delivery, and set up the technical foundations the team builds on.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build microservices using Java and Spring Boot

• Use AI-assisted development tools to drive spec-driven development (SDD) and ensure high code quality

• Set and uphold engineering quality standards across the team

• Set up CI/CD pipelines and functional IDs for applications

• Deploy and manage services on Kubernetes-based platforms

• Set up and configure databases such as CockroachDB and MongoDB

• Work closely with stakeholders across the delivery lifecycle

Required Skills

• 8+ years of hands-on Java development

• Strong Spring Boot and Microservices experience

• Kubernetes / OpenShift deployment experience

• CI/CD pipeline setup (Jenkins, GitLab or similar)

• MongoDB and/or CockroachDB (or other distributed databases)

• Daily use of AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude or similar)

• Strong understanding of code quality: testing, code reviews, standards

Nice to Have

• Frontend experience (React or Angular)

• Banking or financial services background

Eligibility

• Must have the right to work in the UK.

• Must be able to work 5 days onsite in Glasgow or London.
