Senior Full Stack Engineer – Java / AWS (Backend Focus) Location: Rockville, MD or McLean, VA — Hybrid Duration: 6+ months, with potential extension Pay Rate: $50/hr-$55/hour on W2 Experience: 7–8+ years of software development experience Interview Process: Technical assessment and onsite interview

Eligibility : Candidates must be local to DC, Virginia, or Maryland and available for the assessment and onsite interview.

Role Overview Client is seeking a hands-on Senior Full Stack Engineer to build a new application from the ground up within a fully serverless AWS architecture. The role primarily focuses on backend development, API and system integrations, and scalable processing of high transaction volumes and large datasets. Front-end expertise is not a priority.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and integrate serverless components on AWS, including Lambda functions using Python and/or TypeScript.
• Develop REST APIs and integrate applications and services across the broader enterprise ecosystem.
• Design and optimize SQL queries and database interactions for large-scale data processing.
• Implement asynchronous messaging and event-driven workflows.
• Build scalable, reliable services that support high transaction volumes.
• Collaborate with technical leads and architects on application design and implementation.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and improve backend reliability and throughput.

Required Qualifications

• 7–8+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on backend expertise.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and serverless architecture.
• Experience with AWS Lambda and working knowledge of Python and/or TypeScript.
• Strong SQL and database development skills.
• Experience developing REST APIs and integrating enterprise applications and services.
• Experience with messaging systems and asynchronous, event-driven communication.
• Experience building scalable systems that handle high transaction volumes or large datasets.

Strong Java developers who can quickly ramp up on Python and/or TypeScript will be considered. Deep expertise in these languages is not required.
