About the Role

Lead the hands-on modernization of an enterprise Java full-stack application. Own technical direction, architecture and code quality, stack upgrades, integration of readiness, security remediation, and production delivery while mentoring engineers and coordinating with business and technology partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hands-on modernization of an enterprise Java full-stack application.
• Own technical direction, architecture and code quality, stack upgrades, integration of readiness, security remediation, and production delivery while mentoring engineers and coordinating with business and technology partners.
• Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, design reviews, and engineering standards within an Agile team.
• Deliver and modernize Angular and Java/Spring Boot components, REST APIs, business services, and integrations.
• Lead application-stack upgrades and validate DB2, MQ, FTP/email, identity, secrets, and container-platform connectivity.
• Drive secure coding, vulnerability remediation, automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and production readiness.
• Resolve complex technical issues, manage delivery risks, coordinate releases, and mentor engineers.
• Partner with product, business, security, infrastructure, database, mainframe, and platform teams to deliver priority outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 7+ years of enterprise Java development experience using Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC.
• 3+ years of experience with REST APIs, microservices, backend services, and enterprise integrations.
• Full-stack experience with Angular or another modern JavaScript framework.
• Experience with SQL/relational databases, cloud platforms, OpenShift/Kubernetes, CI/CD, automated testing, and TDD.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0/OIDC, Spring Security, secrets management, messaging, and secure engineering practices.
• Proven technical leadership, independent delivery ownership, mentoring ability, and strong communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Healthcare, enrollment, eligibility, or regulated-enterprise experience.
• Experience modernizing legacy Java applications and working with DB2, MQ, application monitoring, SRE/DevOps, or generative AI tools.
• Experience operating under SOX, HIPAA, or similar security and audit controls.
