About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a technology architecture and tooling team responsible for developing internal solutions that help architects and engineering teams design, validate, and evolve future-state technology architectures.

The team builds modern, web-based engineering tools that transform architectural strategies into practical, reusable patterns, enabling faster and more consistent technology delivery across a large, global organization.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on agentic application engineering . You will design and develop software solutions, orchestrate autonomous AI agents, and implement reliable integration patterns that enable AI-powered workflows to operate securely and effectively in production.

You will collaborate with architects, platform teams, and engineers across multiple locations to deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative internal tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain internal tooling that supports future-state architecture and technology governance.
• Build backend services and APIs using Node.js and/or Java.
• Integrate applications with PostgreSQL and other enterprise data sources.
• Develop and enhance web-based user interfaces using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
• Apply agentic engineering practices to orchestrate autonomous AI agents capable of building, testing, and deploying software.
• Implement appropriate controls, monitoring, and observability to ensure the safe and reliable operation of AI agents.
• Design and implement integration patterns, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), tool calling, function calling, and API integrations.
• Collaborate with architects, platform engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs and deliverables.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, performance, resilience, testing, and documentation.
• Contribute to code reviews, automation, continuous improvement, and the operational support of production services.

Required Skills and Experience

• Approximately 10 years of experience in software engineering or a closely related technical role.
• Strong hands-on programming experience with Node.js and/or Java .
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including data modelling and query optimisation.
• Experience developing web applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of agentic application engineering and autonomous AI agent orchestration.
• Understanding of integration patterns such as MCP, tool/function calling, and API design.
• Strong solution design and software architecture capabilities.
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade applications with a focus on security, resilience, performance, and observability.
• Knowledge of automated testing, engineering best practices, and maintainable software development.
• Strong English communication skills and the ability to collaborate with distributed, international teams.

Preferred Technical Expertise

• Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems, APIs, and developer tools.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development workflows, including automated coding, testing, and deployment.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, architecture tooling, or enterprise engineering applications.
• Knowledge of enterprise technology architecture concepts and reusable architectural patterns.
