Senior Java Engineer – Trading Systems

We’re working with a Crypto trading business looking for a Senior Java Engineer to build and enhance its front-office technology.

You’ll develop the systems that support how the business prices trades, monitors its exposure and manages risk. This includes building pricing and quoting functionality, developing automated hedging components and extending the platform to support new trading requirements.

The role combines improving existing production systems with building new components from scratch. The emphasis is on Java development and trading logic, so you’ll need to understand both the engineering and the business problem you’re solving.

What you’ll be working on

• Pricing and quoting: Developing functionality that generates and delivers prices in response to trading requests.
• Risk management: Enhancing systems that track trading exposure and support risk decisions.
• Automated hedging: Building components that help manage exposure through hedging activity.
• Platform development: Extending existing trading capabilities and designing new components from the ground up.
• Production improvements: Improving reliability, performance and maintainability as requirements evolve.

You’ll work closely with technical and trading stakeholders, taking ownership from understanding requirements and designing a solution through to implementation and delivery.

What we’re looking for

• Strong commercial Java development experience.
• Experience building front-office trading systems or substantial components from scratch.
• Practical exposure to pricing, risk, hedging, execution or market-making workflows.
• An understanding of financial markets and how software supports trading activity.
• The ability to explain your technical decisions and demonstrate ownership of what you’ve delivered.
• A hands-on, proactive approach and an interest in working closely with the business.

Relevant experience could come from a bank, hedge fund, trading firm or specialist trading technology provider. We’re open to different asset-class backgrounds; previous digital assets experience isn’t essential.
