Senior / Lab Technician

Key responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: Production

• Manufacture a wide range of earmoulds, including soft moulds, hard moulds, swim plugs, MicroMoulds, PowerMoulds, Power Flex Moulds, and earplugs.
• Produce earmoulds using both traditional hand-casting techniques and the Hearable production process.
• Sort, verify, and process incoming ear impressions.
• Scan ear impressions and coordinate file transfers with the Brisbane team; print, trim, and finish returned digital files.
• Perform trimming, polishing, lacquering, and finishing of earmoulds to required quality standards.

Quality Assurance & Stakeholder Communication

• Conduct quality inspections on all finished products prior to packaging and shipment.
• Liaise with Customer Service, Audiologists, and the Brisbane team to address product feedback, technical issues, and customer complaints, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Ensure all orders are completed accurately and within established turnaround times and service level expectations.

Laboratory & Equipment Management

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment through daily housekeeping and adherence to safety procedures.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient consumables and materials are available to support daily operations.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of monthly earmould production volume by dealers.

Secondary Responsibilities: Hearing Aid Repair & Technical Support

• Support the production, and servicing of custom-made hearing aids.
• Collaborate with regional technical teams to address product quality issues, process improvements, maintenance requirements, and technical controls.
• Support new product testing and quality verification.
• Maintain and update product information, including part numbers and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with technical trainers and relevant stakeholders on product training and technical knowledge transfer.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve repair, technical, and logistics-related matters.
• Conduct technical analyses, retesting, root cause investigations, and prepare reports on customer complaints and product issues.
• Participate in operational reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, workplace safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
• Respond to customer enquiries relating to repairs, technical issues, and custom earmould or hearing aid orders.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing, tracking, and updating of repair cases and new orders within the Company’s operating systems.

About you

• Minimum Diploma, Technical Certificate, or equivalent
• Experience in trimming, finishing, polishing, and quality inspection of custom products is preferred
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and customers
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong team player with a positive attitude and willingness to support operational and business needs
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
