Senior Laboratory Technician

Our client is an international, independent inspection and testing company specialising in the analysis of oil products, (bio)fuels, chemicals and gases. They are seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Analyst to join their laboratory team in Rotterdam.

This is a hands-on senior role within the lab, with ownership of quality control testing on fuel oils, diesel, gasoline and other petroleum products.

The successful candidate will combine strong fuel testing experience with the confidence to work independently, making sound calls on results while supporting less experienced analysts in the team. All analyses are carried out to internal procedures and in line with technical, ISO and VCA guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Carrying out routine and non-routine analyses on fuels and petrochemical products
• Using a wide range of methods and instrumental techniques, including GC(MS), HPLC, FTIR, UV/VIS, XRF, GF(AAS) and ICP
• Reviewing and checking results, and troubleshooting when something doesn’t look right
• Helping to train and support less experienced analysts in the lab
• Working independently and as part of the wider lab team

What they’re looking for:

• 3+ years’ experience in a petrochemical or fuel testing laboratory
• Strong hands-on experience testing fuel oils, diesel and gasoline
• MBO level 4 in analytical chemistry or similar, although proven lab experience counts for more
• Someone accurate, proactive, flexible and calm under pressure
• A clear communicator and a good team player
• Good spoken and written Dutch
• Driving licence B and own transport
