Senior Landscape Architect

Struction Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Landscape Architect to lead landscape architecture and greening projects for a school district. This role provides professional leadership, technical direction, and oversight of staff and consultants, guiding projects from initial planning and design through construction and completion.

The ideal candidate brings strong design skills, team leadership experience, and a background in complex commercial or public agency landscape projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Landscape Unit’s staff, projects, and activities, providing technical guidance and professional oversight.
• Direct landscape design, site planning, greening, irrigation, grading, planting, hardscape, and related site improvements.
• Serve as Landscape Architect of Record for District-designed projects, assuming responsibility for the preparation, review, coordination, and certification of plans, specifications, and technical documents.
• Oversee consultant landscape architects and coordinate with civil, electrical, structural, and other design professionals.
• Lead the preparation and review of drawings, construction documents, specifications, and design revisions.
• Develop, review, negotiate, and approve consultant scopes of work, design service proposals, and task orders.
• Prepare and review cost estimates, evaluate materials and installation methods, and assess project delivery approaches.
• Conduct site visits, monitor construction progress, and resolve design and technical issues.
• Coordinate with school staff, parent groups, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to incorporate appropriate project needs.
• Review designs for accessibility, safety, sustainability, constructability, maintenance, lifecycle costs, and compliance with District requirements.
• Review technical documentation supporting grant applications and provide professional advice to District management and project teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from a recognized college or university.
• At least 10 years of professional landscape architectural design experience on commercial and public agency projects.
• At least 3 years of experience supervising landscape architects and related staff, overseeing projects from inception through completion.
• Extensive experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and related office software.
• Strong knowledge of planting design, landscape materials, and technical aspects of landscape architecture.
• Experience reviewing construction documents, specifications, and contracts.
• Construction administration experience and demonstrated ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary consultants.
• Strong design, organizational, written communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently with flexibility, initiative, and resourcefulness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with school or university projects.
• Experience with Revit, Rhino, and Lumion.
