TITLE: Senior / Lead BFF Engineer

LOCATION: Atlanta, GA

ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 11/16/2026 to 02/19/2027

Responsibilities:

• Design and build GraphQL schemas, SDUI pipeline stages, context resolvers, and layout transformers that power mobile screens.
• Integrate downstream services using resilience patterns such as circuit breakers, retries, caching, and staleness policies.
• Maintain backward-compatible client contracts with additive, versioned changes for long-lived mobile apps.
• Instrument services with tracing, metrics, and structured logs to ensure failures are surfaced accurately.
• Write well-tested code that meets quality gates for coverage, style checks, and security scanning.
• Author and review architecture and design documentation and uphold module boundaries.
• Partner with mobile, product, and downstream service teams to deliver features and resolve production issues.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years (Senior) or 5+ years (Lead) of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong Java (17+, ideally 21) and Spring Boot experience.
• Hands-on GraphQL experience including schema design and resolvers/data fetchers.
• Experience building backend-for-frontend (BFF) or API aggregation layers for mobile or web clients.
• Knowledge of distributed systems resilience patterns (circuit breakers, retries, timeouts, caching, graceful degradation).
• Experience with observability (tracing, metrics, and structured logging).
• Strong testing discipline (e.g., unit testing with modern Java test frameworks and enforced coverage thresholds).

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with server-driven UI or config-driven screen rendering.
• Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform experience.
• Google Cloud experience (e.g., Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage) and PostgreSQL with migration tooling.
• Familiarity with CDN caching and edge cache strategy.
• Performance and load testing experience.
• Ecommerce domain knowledge (e.g., search, product pages, cart, pricing, store availability).
• Experience with architecture-as-code tooling and AI-assisted development workflows.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $ 60.00 to $70 an hour (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
