Senior Lead Software Engineer, Backend

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer, Backend to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will focus on designing and scaling backend systems that support high-demand applications in a fast-moving, customer-facing environment. You will own key technical decisions across architecture, implementation, and reliability, helping ensure the platform performs well under heavy usage. The position also calls for strong cross-functional partnership, technical leadership, and a hands-on approach to engineering excellence.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $160,700 – $200,900 annually

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain scalable systems and APIs for high-demand applications
• Own the full development lifecycle from architecture to implementation
• Lead by example with high-performance, tested code
• Establish best practices for system design and code quality
• Respond to and resolve complex production issues urgently
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to meet business goals
• Mentor engineers, providing guidance and support for growth
• Influence technical roadmap and promote a culture of ownership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 7+ years in backend development with C# or Java
• Expertise in distributed systems and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP
• Proven track record in building resilient systems with automated test coverage
• Experience in technical leadership and architectural decision-making
• Background in mentoring engineers and fostering growth
