Senior Linux Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Linux Engineer with strong expertise in firewall technologies to lead the migration from traditional firewall appliances to VM-based open-source firewalls. This role is critical in strengthening the Bank's network security posture while aligning with modern, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Firewall Migration: Design and execute migration strategies from hardware firewall appliances to VM-based open-source firewall solutions.
• VM Deployment: Deploy, configure, and optimize virtual machines running firewall stacks in accordance with the Bank's security architecture.
• Open Source Firewalls: Implement and maintain open-source firewall technologies ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
• Security Monitoring: Integrate and manage intrusion detection and prevention systems, traffic analysis, and monitoring tools.
• Collaboration: Work closely with network, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of firewall solutions.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, policies, and migration processes.

About you

• Minimum 4+years of experience in Linux engineering with a focus on firewall technologies.
• Proven expertise in VM-based firewall deployment and configuration.
• Strong knowledge of network security principles and firewall rule management.
• Hands-on experience with NixOS, Nftables, Cilium, Suricata, and Zeek.
• Experience in open-source firewall migration projects within financial institutions.
• Familiarity with cloud-native networking and containerized environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
