We are looking for a Senior Linux Administrator to join our Infrastructure Shared Services team.

This role is responsible for the administration, security, reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise Linux environments across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure .

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in complex incident resolution, system lifecycle management, automation, patching, vulnerability remediation, infrastructure changes, and service recovery. The role will also collaborate closely with Cloud, Network, Security, Database, Application, and Service Delivery teams across a global environment.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with enterprise Linux, Red Hat, Azure and/or AWS, virtualization, storage, automation, security hardening, and infrastructure operations .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in the administration and support of enterprise Linux environments.
• Manage and maintain Linux servers across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex or recurring Linux infrastructure incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Plan and execute OS patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, configuration changes, and server lifecycle activities.
• Perform Linux installation, configuration, hardening, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Manage system services, users, permissions, security configurations, and privileged access.
• Manage Linux storage, including LVM, SAN, and dm-multipath environments.
• Support enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware and KVM .
• Develop and improve automation and configuration-management solutions using Ansible, Bash, Python , or related technologies.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, logs, security alerts, and infrastructure trends.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and server recovery activities.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure operations across Microsoft Azure and AWS .
• Participate in infrastructure architecture, technology roadmap, lifecycle, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support project-to-BAU transitions and ensure appropriate technical documentation.
• Maintain technical standards, procedures, troubleshooting guides, inventories, and knowledge articles.
• Collaborate with Cloud, Network, Security, Database, Application, Service Delivery, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to other administrators.
• Functionally coordinate OS administration activities and work assignments when required.
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to monthly activity, quality, and performance reporting.
• Ensure SLA and KPI requirements are consistently met.
• Participate in shifting schedules, on-call rotation, after-hours support, and planned maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with EssilorLuxottica IT Security, Data Center, and Cloud Governance standards.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure , with at least 7 years of hands-on Linux administration experience .
• Strong experience supporting enterprise Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• SUSE Linux
• Ubuntu
• Rocky Linux
• AlmaLinux
• Strong knowledge of Linux installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security hardening, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with Linux networking, system services, users, permissions, and security.
• Experience with LVM and SAN storage , including dm-multipath.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and/or KVM .
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly Microsoft Azure and/or AWS .
• Experience with automation or configuration management using Ansible, Bash, Python , or similar tools.
• Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and infrastructure security.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex infrastructure issues.
• Ability to lead technical activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong documentation, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work on shifting schedules and participate in on-call support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Red Hat or other Linux certifications.
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux Automation with Ansible (RH294) training/certification.
• Red Hat Satellite Administration (RH403) training/certification.
• Microsoft Azure AZ-104 and/or AZ-305 training/certification.
• ITIL knowledge or certification.
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery, and data center technologies.
• Experience supporting large-scale or globally distributed infrastructure environments.
