Senior Linux Technical Lead

Context

We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Technical Lead to help elevate the operational maturity of our Linux platform team. This role goes beyond technical expertise: we are seeking a strong leader who demonstrates ownership, accountability, organizational skills, and operational excellence.

The consultant will work closely with engineers, product owners, service management, and stakeholders to establish structure, improve operational processes, and drive reliability across our Linux estate. The ideal candidate combines deep Linux expertise with the maturity and leadership required to organize and streamline a growing operations function.

Missions

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Linux team.
• Define and drive best practices for Linux platform operations, maintenance, security, and lifecycle management.
• Support complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution.
• Act as a senior escalation point for critical Linux-related issues.

Operational Excellence

• Help organize and structure the operational activities of the Linux team.
• Improve incident, problem, change, and capacity management practices.
• Drive operational metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Improve service reliability, availability, and operational efficiency.
• Support the creation and maintenance of operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge management practices.

Team Coaching & Leadership

• Lead by example and foster a culture of accountability and ownership.
• Coach and mentor Linux engineers on operational excellence and technical best practices.
• Act as a trusted advisor to management and stakeholders.
• Build strong collaboration across infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks.
• Reduce operational toil and improve overall platform stability.
• Promote proactive monitoring, observability, and preventive maintenance.

1. Experience as a Senior Linux Technical Lead with deep Linux expertise
2. Strong knowledge of ICT and Agile methodologies
3. Proficiency in Backup & Recovery, Build and release pipelines, and CI/CD pipelines
4. Experience with Identity and access management, Incident management, and root cause analysis
5. Understanding of Information Security and Network management
6. Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch is a plus
