We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Litigation Attorney to manage complex litigation matters and deliver strategic, practical legal solutions to clients. The successful candidate will take ownership of matters from instruction to conclusion while upholding the firm’s professional and service standards.

This role requires an accomplished litigator with strong High Court experience, excellent drafting ability, sound legal judgment, and the confidence to manage clients, counsel, deadlines, and case strategy independently.

Key Responsibilities

Manage complex litigation matters from initial instruction through to finalisation.

Develop case strategies, assess legal and commercial risks, and provide clear legal advice.

Draft, review, and settle pleadings, notices, affidavits, opinions, correspondence, and settlement agreements.

Prepare for and attend High Court and Magistrates’ Court proceedings, consultations, mediations, and arbitrations.

Brief and liaise with counsel, experts, correspondents, sheriffs, and other stakeholders.

Maintain proactive communication with clients and provide accurate, timely matter updates.

Manage court dates, procedural requirements, prescription periods, and other critical deadlines.

Guide and support junior attorneys, candidate attorneys, and paralegal staff where required.

Minimum Requirements

LLB degree from an accredited institution.

Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Minimum seven years’ relevant litigation experience.

Substantial experience in High Court litigation.

Proven ability to manage a litigation portfolio independently.

Strong practical knowledge of court rules, procedures, and legal practice requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal practice or case-management systems.
