About the Opportunity

Our client, a global online marketplace, is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join its Search Ads team.

You will develop machine learning systems that power sponsored search, helping customers discover relevant products and enabling sellers to improve advertising performance. The role spans retrieval, ranking, ad allocation, and user engagement modeling, with a focus on delivering measurable customer and business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop ML models that improve sponsored search relevance, personalization, and customer engagement.
• Build and enhance systems for ad retrieval, ranking, allocation, and engagement prediction.
• Prototype, optimize, and deploy large-scale ML models and pipelines.
• Train, monitor, debug, and continuously improve production ML systems.
• Design and conduct A/B experiments to evaluate model performance and product impact.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and analytics partners to define requirements and measure results.
• Lead technical projects from design through delivery.
• Communicate model capabilities, findings, and technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Write clear, testable, and maintainable code.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience applying statistical and machine learning techniques to real-world problems.
• Deep expertise in at least one of the following:
• Natural language processing
• Information retrieval
• Search or recommendation systems
• Deep learning
• Hands-on experience training, deploying, monitoring, debugging, and improving production ML systems in search, recommendations, or advertising.
• Ability to define requirements and lead projects from technical design through delivery.
• Strong software engineering practices and a focus on code quality and maintainability.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• A product-focused mindset and commitment to improving customer experiences.
