Senior Mainframe Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid - Brussels or Paris

Contract: 12 months + ext

Role

We’re looking for a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer with strong hands-on development experience who can also design and implement scalable solutions. You’ll work across complex mainframe systems, own features end-to-end, troubleshoot production issues and contribute to modernisation and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Strong Software Engineering, system architecture and solution design experience.
• Hands-on experience with PL/1, SQL, DB2 Stored Procedures, PL/SQL, JCL and CICS , including CICS Web Services .
• Strong experience with Mainframe DB2, VSAM and relational databases .
• Experience with File Manager, SPUFI, QMF, Fault Analyzer, Git, CI/CD, APIs, MQ Series, Linux, SOAP UI and Z/OS Connect .
• Strong production troubleshooting , including logs, monitoring and enterprise application monitoring tools.
• Experience with advanced Git workflows, testing/quality standards, secure coding and dependency best practices .
• Experience with cloud migration, AI integration, automation, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD .
• Ability to analyse business requirements and technical impact , design scalable solutions and take end-to-end ownership.
• Good knowledge of Agile methodologies and strong English.

Nice to Have

• Experience within Credit Management, Payments, Treasury or Banking Operations .
• Mainframe modernisation/migration experience, including legacy and modern platform integration.
• Background in Machine Learning, Data Science or Generative AI .
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills .
