What they need

Lead accounting. Develop people. Make an impact.

What if your accounting expertise could do more than keep the numbers right?

At New Hampshire Housing, the work of our Finance & Accounting team helps make housing opportunities possible for people across New Hampshire. We’ve helped more than 55,000 families achieve homeownership, supported the development of more than 16,000 multifamily housing units, and manage thousands of Housing Choice Vouchers each year.

Behind that work is a talented Finance & Accounting team that keeps our programs strong, compliant, and moving forward. We are looking for a Senior Manager, Accounting, to join that team and provide hands-on leadership across key accounting functions.

As a Senior Manager, Accounting, you will lead accounting operations that directly support our mission, and the programs New Hampshire residents rely on. You’ll combine strong technical accounting knowledge with people leadership, collaboration, and problem solving.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and monitor daily accounting activities to ensure accurate asset portfolios, program administration, reporting, and compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, supporting monthly financial reporting and reducing financial risk.
  • Manage the annual external audit process, coordinating data gathering, control procedures, schedules, and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and oversee financial and accounting reports, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and useful.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and creating opportunities for professional growth.

To support onboarding and training, the initial weeks of employment will be conducted in-office. Following this period, hybrid-remote work may be available on an intermittent basis, as determined by the manager.

Why New Hampshire Housing?

You’ll be joining an organization where accounting isn’t simply a back-office function. Your work will help strengthen the financial foundation behind programs that make housing more accessible throughout New Hampshire.

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and develop a talented team.
  • Work alongside collaborative colleagues who care about what they do.
  • Bring your expertise to an organization with a meaningful public mission.
  • Build your career in a workplace that prioritizes flexibility, employee well-being, and true work-life balance, including a 37-hour work week.

New Hampshire Housing is proud to offer:

  • A 37-hour work week that supports true work-life balance
  • Flexible work schedules and opportunities for hybrid work
  • Two retirement plans with employer contributions to both
  • Multiple high-quality health insurance options
  • Employer-paid dental, disability, and life insurance
  • Vision coverage
  • Generous and flexible PTO
  • Paid parental leave
  • Undergraduate and graduate tuition reimbursement
  • Student loan repayment assistance
  • Paid volunteer time
  • Fitness rewards and reimbursement programs
  • And more!

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience compiling federal reports in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting controls and compliance with GASB regulations.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and experience.
  • Strong ability to leverage computerized financial and accounting systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Master’s degree in a related field and at least three years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, New Hampshire Housing is committed to building a workforce that is as diverse as the people we serve.

Starting Pay: $78,000 - $107,000, dependent on relevant experience
