Senior Manager - Business Development & Operations

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Manager – Business Development & Operations to lead the Company's growth initiatives while providing strategic oversight of its freight forwarding and logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, expanding key accounts, strengthening client relationships, improving operational performance, and ensuring that commercial opportunities are viable, profitable, and effectively delivered. This is a senior leadership position with the potential to assume broader general management responsibilities, subject to demonstrated performance, leadership readiness, and organizational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the Company's revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
• Identify and pursue new clients, target markets, strategic partnerships, and logistics opportunities.
• Lead client presentations, business proposals, tenders, pricing discussions, and contract negotiations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, carriers, agents, brokers, vendors, and business partners.
• Expand existing accounts through cross-selling, service development, and improved client engagement.
• Maintain and regularly review the Company's business pipeline, account performance, conversion rates, and revenue opportunities.
• Monitor industry trends, market activities and conditions, and regulatory developments affecting the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
• Provide leadership and direction in the planning and execution of freight forwarding and logistics operations.
• Ensure the timely, accurate, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of services to clients.
• Lead the resolution of significant client, operational, and service-delivery issues.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
• At least eight years of progressive experience in freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, supply chain, transportation, or a related industry.
• At least three years of experience in a managerial or senior leadership position.
• Strong operational background in freight forwarding or logistics, preferably involving international sea freight, air freight, customs coordination, transportation, warehousing, or related services.
• Proven experience in business development, key account management, commercial negotiations, and revenue generation.
• Strong understanding of pricing, costing, gross profit, account profitability, credit management, and operational performance.
• Demonstrated ability to develop new business while maintaining service quality, compliance, and profitability.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in preparing business proposals, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and performance analyses.
