Senior Manager, Cloud Migration (Higher Education)

My client is looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Cloud Migration to lead large-scale cloud transformation and system modernization initiatives within the higher education sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing the migration of legacy systems to modern cloud platforms, while ensuring alignment with institutional policies, governance requirements, and business objectives. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, vendor management, and communication skills to effectively collaborate across multiple departments and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end cloud migration projects from legacy systems to cloud platforms.
• Develop and execute cloud migration strategies, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
• Drive system modernization initiatives to enhance scalability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with academic, administrative, and IT stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Manage cross-functional teams and coordinate activities across multiple departments.
• Evaluate existing systems and recommend migration and modernization approaches.
• Oversee cloud deployments and solutions on platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Alibaba Cloud, or Tencent Cloud.
• Ensure compliance with higher education policies, guidelines, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage third-party vendors, system integrators, and technology partners to ensure quality delivery and project success.
• Monitor project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
• Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 12-14 years of experience in cloud migration, infrastructure transformation, or related technology initiatives.
• Proven experience leading cloud migration projects within the higher education sector.
• Demonstrated experience in system modernization and digital transformation programs.
• Hands-on experience migrating from legacy systems to cloud platforms.
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, or Tencent Cloud.
• Good understanding of higher education systems, policies, guidelines, and governance requirements.
• Proven experience managing vendors, system integrators, and external service providers.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across multiple departments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluent in Cantonese and English (spoken and written).
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
