We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Manager, Compliance, to help run our U.S. compliance program across both financial crimes compliance (BSA/AML and sanctions) and consumer compliance. This is a visible, hands-on leadership role: you will support the Chief Compliance Officer in the day-to-day work, lead our compliance team, and keep our controls working well as we grow.

This role is remote with a preference for US-based applicants in the Eastern Time Zone.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Senior Manager, Compliance supports the day-to-day management of RockWallet's compliance program across BSA/AML, sanctions, and consumer protection requirements. You will lead the compliance team, operate our compliance systems and controls, and carry out the program, policies, and priorities set by the Chief Compliance Officer. You recommend improvements and escalate concerns; the Chief Compliance Officer approves policy, risk, and regulatory decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer in managing day-to-day compliance activities relating to BSA/AML, sanctions, and applicable consumer protection requirements;
  • Assist with drafting and updating policies, procedures, and guidance addressing BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, Regulation E, UDAAP, and other applicable consumer compliance requirements, for approval by the Chief Compliance Officer;
  • Develop, update, and deliver training on BSA/AML, sanctions, and consumer compliance requirements; track completion and identify additional training needs;
  • Perform monitoring and testing of BSA/AML, sanctions, and consumer compliance controls; document findings and track corrective actions to closure;
  • Review customer complaints, disclosures, and error resolution practices for compliance with applicable consumer protection requirements; escalate concerns and assist with resolution;
  • Monitor changes to BSA/AML, sanctions, and consumer protection requirements, assess their impact on operations, and assist with implementing approved changes;
  • Operate and optimize RockWallet's compliance tools and systems, including SumSub, Sardine, Veriff, and Chainalysis, by tuning rules and thresholds, coordinating with vendors, and escalating issues;
  • Prepare data and draft updates for the annual corporate risk assessment required under the BSA, for review and approval by the Chief Compliance Officer;
  • Work with internal teams, vendors, and partners to resolve day-to-day compliance questions and put compliant solutions in place;
  • Coordinate responses to internal and external audit requests and gather the supporting documentation;
  • Build a working understanding of RockWallet products and services, and assess how product and regulatory changes affect compliance; and,
  • Other duties as required.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Supervise, manage, and develop the compliance team, including coaching, performance feedback, and workload planning;
  • Evaluate the operational performance of compliance controls and recommend enhancements;
  • Track transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics, sanctions, and other alert queues, making sure volumes are cleared within prescribed SLAs;
  • Conduct quality control reviews of analyst work and track follow-through on feedback; and,
  • Report team metrics, SLA performance, complaint trends, and emerging issues to the Chief Compliance Officer on a regular basis.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree; CAMS or CRCM certification is preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in compliance roles in Fintech, Payment Systems, or Crypto, including at least 2 years leading or supervising a team. Previous Money Services Business (MSB) experience is preferred;
  • Candidates with experience in both BSA/AML and consumer compliance will be given preference;
  • Working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, the PATRIOT Act, OFAC and sanctions requirements, and FinCEN and MSB obligations;
