Senior Manager / Controller – Private Equity Operations
A well-established international investment manager is seeking a Senior Manager / Controller to strengthen its Luxembourg-based operations team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of financial control, reporting, treasury and governance matters across a portfolio of complex private equity, holding and investment structures. The role also offers the opportunity to contribute directly to technology-enabled process improvements, automation initiatives and the evolving use of data and AI within a fund operations environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal finance, legal, tax, operations and investment teams, as well as with external service providers and professional advisers.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee relationships with external accounting, administration and corporate service providers.
- Review and coordinate periodic financial reporting, management reporting, statutory financial statements and consolidation processes.
- Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial information to internal stakeholders, boards, auditors and relevant third parties.
- Coordinate and oversee the year-end audit process for a range of investment-related and holding entities.
- Monitor financing arrangements, including intercompany balances, loans, interest calculations and covenant compliance where applicable.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow monitoring, treasury activities and expense management.
- Contribute to the financial oversight, calculation, reporting and administration of carried interest and other incentive-related structures.
- Review payment processes, invoices, cash positions and operational expenditure.
- Support the setup, onboarding and ongoing management of new legal entities and investment-related structures.
- Coordinate with external tax advisers and provide financial information required for tax compliance and reporting purposes.
- Participate in board and governance-related processes for relevant entities.
- Drive improvements to reporting, controls, systems and operational processes.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology, workflow automation, data tools and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, data quality, control and scalability.
- Contribute to cross-functional transformation and digitalisation initiatives within the finance and operations function.
Candidate profile
- Qualified accountant or finance professional with approximately six years’ relevant experience in financial services, alternative investments, fund accounting, audit or corporate controlling.
- Solid understanding of private equity, investment funds, holding companies or other alternative investment structures.
- Previous exposure to carried interest vehicles, incentive schemes or related financial calculations is highly desirable.
- Experience managing or reviewing work performed by external administrators, accountants or corporate service providers.
- Strong experience with financial reporting, annual accounts, audit coordination and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel capability, including the ability to work confidently with complex financial models, data sets and reporting requirements.
- Strong interest in technology and demonstrated experience using systems, automation tools or digital solutions to improve finance or operational processes.
- Familiarity with data analytics, workflow automation and/or practical applications of AI in a finance, reporting or operations context would be a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of Lux GAAP would be an advantage.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proactive, rigorous and hands-on, with the ability to work autonomously and manage several priorities.
- A continuous-improvement mindset, with the ability to translate operational needs into practical and scalable solutions.
