What they need

Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For nearly two decades, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying AI/ML to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future.

Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning research as well as highly experienced finance and technology professionals. The people who shape our company come from other backgrounds, including concert music performances, humanitarian aid, opera singing, sports writing, and BMX racing. You will be part of a team that loves to succeed together.

In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.

As the Senior Manager, Learning & Development, you will report directly to the Head of People. You will take ownership of designing, building, and delivering Voleon University, our comprehensive learning and development program spanning new hire onboarding, manager training, and work optimization for employees across the company. Operating as an individual contributor with significant autonomy, you will collaborate closely with the Head of People, People Business Partners, and subject matter experts across Research, Engineering, and all business functions to ensure content is relevant and aligned with our talent strategy. The purpose of this role is to build and deploy a scalable learning framework that accelerates every Voleon employee's ramp time, strengthens leadership capabilities, and enables everyone to do their best work as the company scales.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own the curriculum and roadmap for Voleon University, a comprehensive learning and development program spanning multiple audiences
  • Operate as an individual contributor with significant autonomy over program design, sequencing, and execution
  • Report directly to the Head of People, with regular alignment on priorities and progress against the multi-year roadmap
  • Build onboarding curriculum that helps new hires ramp quickly and understand how Voleon operates
  • Design first time manager training for individuals stepping into management for the first time
  • Design experienced manager onboarding to help managers who are new to Voleon, but not new to managing, learn Voleon's specific culture, expectations, and ways of working
  • Build work optimization training for individual contributors and managers to improve effectiveness within Voleon's specific environment
  • Establish a scalable curriculum framework and content library that can grow with the company as headcount increases
  • Determine appropriate delivery formats for each program, such as live facilitation, self-paced modules, or blended approaches
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners and subject matter experts across research, technology, and business functions to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with broader talent strategy
  • Measure program effectiveness through data, feedback, and business outcomes, and iterate based on results
  • Stay current on adult learning theory and instructional design best practices, and apply them to Voleon University's curriculum

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, or organizational development, including experience building programs from the ground up
  • Demonstrated success operating as an individual contributor with high autonomy
  • Demonstrated success designing and launching a multi-audience learning curriculum, ideally including onboarding, manager development, and skills-based training
  • Exceptional instructional design skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical concepts into effective learning content
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and modern learning delivery methods
  • Excellent facilitation skills, with experience delivering training to varied audiences from individual contributors to experienced managers
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage a multi-year curriculum roadmap and multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with HR Business Partners and cross functional stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with highly technical and academically credentialed audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Education, Psychology, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building a corporate university or comparable large scale learning program from scratch (preferred)
  • Experience working with highly technical, credentialed, or research driven populations, such as PhDs or advanced degree holders (preferred)
  • Experience in financial services, quantitative finance, or asset management (preferred)
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Education, or related field (preferred)
