Senior Manager R2R

The R2R Senior Manager is a seasoned finance controller who acts as the business-facing layer of the Record to Report function, sitting between R2R Managers (who run the close) and the R2R Tower Lead (who owns the tower). The role goes beyond core transactional operations to drill into the business: analysing the Balance Sheet and P&L, identifying trend-based issues, policy deviations, exceptions, and financial risks, and converting these into actionable business insights for Financial Controllers and CFO level stakeholders. The role also oversees group consolidation and brings a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and SAP-driven financial data.

Key Responsibilities

1. Balance Sheet & P&L Analysis

● Perform in-depth monthly, quarterly, and annual review of the Balance Sheet and P&L across entities, going beyond accuracy checks to assess quality, composition, and sustainability of reported numbers.

● Analyse key P&L drivers (revenue, material cost, conversion cost, overheads, margins) and explain movements against budget, forecast, and prior periods.

● Scrutinise Balance Sheet health, including working capital (inventory, receivables, payables), provisions, accruals, fixed assets, CWIP, and intercompany positions. Challenge unusual, unsupported, or judgment-based balances and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and valuation.

● Present concise, insight-led financial reviews to Financial Controllers and CFO-level leadership.

Trend-Based Issue Identification & Business Insights

● Use month-on-month and year-on-year trend analysis to proactively detect anomalies, recurring issues, leakages, and emerging risks before they impact reported results.

● Translate financial data into business insights on profitability, cost behaviour, plant performance, and working capital efficiency.

● Identify root causes of recurring variances and exceptions, and recommend corrective actions to business and finance owners.

● Partner with FP&A and business finance to link accounting outcomes with operational drivers and support business decision-making.

Consolidation & Group Reporting

● Oversee group consolidation across entities, including intercompany eliminations, minority interest, foreign currency translation, and consolidation adjustments.

● Review consolidated financial statements and reporting packs for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with group policies and applicable GAAP (IFRS / Ind AS / US GAAP).

● Validate consolidation tool outputs against SAP ledger data and resolve significant differences.

● Provide consolidated-level analysis and commentary on key movements for leadership reporting.

4. Manufacturing Finance & SAP

● Apply strong understanding of manufacturing finance – inventory valuation, standard costing, production variances, COGS, capex, and plant-level P&L – to review and interpret financials.

● Leverage SAP (FI/CO, and exposure to MM/PP/SD integration) to drill into transactional data, trace issues to source, and support analysis.

● Identify system-driven or process-driven accounting issues arising from manufacturing operations and drive resolution with plant finance and operations teams.

.5 Leadership & Governance

● Provide direction and review oversight to R2R Managers, with month-end close execution delegated to the Manager layer.

● Raise the analytical and business-review capability of the team; coach Managers on financial review, commentary, and risk identification.

● Drive standardization of review frameworks, analytical templates, and exception reporting across the tower.

Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory, 12 – 15 Years overall, with 10+ years post-CA qualification
