Job Overview

The Senior Process Engineer will play a critical role in developing and improving manufacturing equipment to transition products from laboratory development to mass production. This position involves designing custom industrial machinery, developing equipment concepts, conducting technical analyses, and optimizing manufacturing performance, reliability, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design custom manufacturing machinery and automated equipment for material preparation, cutting, inspection, bonding, and assembly.
• Lead equipment design activities, including requirements definition, specifications, concept generation, concept selection, and design reviews.
• Develop and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and subsystem specifications.
• Improve overall equipment efficiency, process stability, manufacturing tolerances, machine reliability, and automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across product development, process engineering, software, and manufacturing operations.
• Perform proof-of-concept calculations, benchtop testing, and system-level and subsystem-level design analyses.
• Evaluate design alternatives using parametric modeling and engineering analysis.
• Coordinate with external vendors for components and subsystem development.
• Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis, statistical evaluations, and root-cause investigations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 10+ years of industry experience.
• Experience designing and building complex industrial machines.
• Strong background in electro-mechanical systems and/or precision machine design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, including PDM, GD&T, and FMEA.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM), including sheet metal, machined components, and welded parts.
• Familiarity with automation systems, control cabinets, industrial sensors, PLCs, data acquisition, and I/O devices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and apply industrial best practices to production equipment design.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with metal additive manufacturing, robotics, or industrial automation.
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, including 3D printing, CNC machining, milling, turning, and laser cutting.
• Basic programming experience with Python, Linux, or PLCs.
• Knowledge of fluid and gas handling, motion planning and control, hydraulics, laser cutting, or vacuum systems.
