Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer

Sanmina is looking for a skilled, proactive, and results-oriented NPI Manufacturing Engineer specialized in metal fabrication and soft tooling processes . In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our manufacturing efficiency and product launches. You will be responsible for defining, designing, and implementing robust manufacturing processes for new fabricated parts, ensuring compliance with NPI project timelines, quality standards, and operational safety.

Key Responsibilities & Specific Functions

• NPI & Process Design: Design, implement, and control manufacturing processes for new part numbers (NPI), focusing on sheet metal fabrication (Soft Tooling), including punching, laser cutting, bending (press brakes), CNC machining, and welding (TIG/MIG).
• Documentation & Core Tools: Create, implement, and maintain detailed Work Instructions, Process Flow Diagrams, FMEAs/PFMEAs, and Control Plans for new product releases.
• Quality & Engineering Validation: Support PPAP deliverables, Cpk studies, root cause analysis (8D, 5Ws), and First Pass Yield (FPY) optimization during pilot runs.
• Equipment & Tooling: Review equipment technical requirements, define tooling/fixtures, layout setup, and coordinate RFQs for new machinery or soft tool acquisitions.
• Transfer & Operational Excellence: Lead smooth production transfers and plant start-ups from development to volume release. Drive 5S initiatives, visual aids, and standardization across manufacturing lines.
• Customer & Audit Support: Interface with cross-functional teams and customers on technical drawing interpretations, deviation reports, and support internal/external audits (ISO 9001, IATF, Environmental Management Systems).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Required).
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in the Metal-Mechanic / Sheet Metal Fabrication industry, with a strong focus on NPI (New Product Introduction) environments.
• Soft Tooling Expertise (Mandatory): 4+ years of hands-on technical experience in soft tooling fabrication processes, specifically: CNC Punching & Laser Cutting (Trumpf, Mazak, Amada or similar).
• Precision Bending / Press Brakes (bend development, tool selection, K-factor calculation).
• Welding (TIG/MIG/Spot Welding) and metal forming/rolling.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong ability to interpret technical engineering drawings, GD&T, Cpk studies, tolerance stack-ups, and basic knowledge of plating/coatings (Epoxy, Tin plating).
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Oracle (or similar ERP/MRP systems), and Microsoft Office.
• Languages: Advanced English
