We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business working on innovative products and technically challenging projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with approximately 5+ years' experience in mechanical design, product development and engineering, who is looking to take on greater technical responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and complete products.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Take projects from initial concept through prototyping, testing and manufacture.
• Work closely with engineering, production and manufacturing teams to deliver practical design solutions.
• Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve product performance and production efficiency.
• Undertake engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and material selection.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Support and mentor junior engineers where required.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders on technical requirements.

Skills & Experience

• Approximately 5+ years' experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.
• Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or similar .
• Experience designing mechanical components, assemblies and manufactured products.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and engineering principles.
• Experience taking designs from concept through to production.
• Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings and tolerance analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline , or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with composites, precision engineering or complex mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of FEA, structural analysis or simulation.
• Experience working within automotive, aerospace, motorsport or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience mentoring junior engineers or taking technical ownership of projects.
