Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be responsible in ensuring reliable, safe and efficient plant machinery and equipment performance. The role focuses on maintenance planning, manpower coordination, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment improvement, vendor coordination and reporting to support smooth production operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, manpower allocation and job assignments for maintenance supervisors and technicians.
• Support production operations by ensuring machinery, equipment and utility-related systems are maintained and available for use.
• Carry out and coordinate preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Investigate mechanical or equipment issues, identify root causes and implement corrective or preventive actions.
• Execute machine improvement, modification and reliability improvement programs with relevant departments.
• Liaise with Production, QA and other internal teams on equipment specifications, operational issues, complaints and quality-related matters.
• Coordinate with external vendors or suppliers when in-house troubleshooting, repair or maintenance support is required.
• Recommend repairs, preventive maintenance actions, spare parts and equipment replacement to optimize machine utilization.
• Maintain equipment records, maintenance history and related documentation, and prepare monthly maintenance performance reports.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with company procedures, quality system requirements, HACCP/GMP requirements and safety practices.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, factory maintenance, operations maintenance or related manufacturing environment.
• Good knowledge of equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and machinery improvement.
• Experience in coordinating maintenance supervisors, technicians, vendors and cross-functional teams is preferred.
• Able to analyze maintenance issues, recommend practical solutions and follow through with corrective actions.
• Good communication, coordination, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literate and able to prepare maintenance reports and documentation using Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to work independently and support urgent maintenance or breakdown situations when required.
