Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineering Designer leads the mechanical design, modelling, and detailed engineering of complex mechanical systems, components, and electro-mechanical assemblies. This role drives products from conceptual framework through design verification, prototyping, and production handover, ensuring adherence to technical specs, manufacturing standards, and performance criteria.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead 3D parametric CAD modelling (SolidWorks, for complex mechanical assemblies).
• Perform stress, fatigue and kinematic calculations using analytical methods; perform tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, and Test principles for processes like machining and sheet metal.
• Build, test, and validate functional prototypes; design test rigs and manage root cause analysis for design failures.
• Partner with electrical and manufacturing engineering teams to integrate multi-disciplinary systems.
• Lead formal design reviews and mentor junior designers and mechanical drafters on engineering best practices.
• Manage Engineering Change Orders, Bills of Materials, component specs, and vendor/supplier technical requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 8–12+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced skill with 3D CAD platforms (Alibre, SolidWorks).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, project management, clear technical communication, and leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or certified SOLIDWORKS Expert (CSWE) / equivalent certification.
• Experience managing external vendor relationships .
