Senior MEP Draftsman

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior MEP Draftsman to join our MEP project team in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, coordinating, and updating detailed Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting drawings in accordance with project specifications, approved design drawings, authority requirements, and site conditions.

The candidate should have strong experience working with MEP contractors in the UAE and be capable of independently handling shop drawings, coordination drawings, builders' work drawings, as-built drawings, and related technical documentation.

Candidates who are currently available in the UAE and can join immediately will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting, HVAC, and related services.
• Prepare coordinated MEP drawings based on approved design drawings, specifications, BOQ, and project requirements.
• Develop builders' work drawings, sections, details, schematics, layouts, and installation drawings as required.
• Coordinate MEP services with architectural, structural, civil, and other disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
• Review IFC/design drawings and identify discrepancies, missing information, and coordination issues before preparation of shop drawings.
• Prepare and revise drawings based on consultant/client comments and approved technical submissions.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on actual site installation and approved modifications.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, MEP Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, Site Engineers, BIM teams, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, applicable standards, authority requirements, and approved material specifications.
• Maintain proper drawing registers, revision histories, and document control procedures.
• Incorporate approved RFIs, technical clarifications, variation works, and site instructions into relevant drawings.
• Review subcontractor and supplier drawings where required and ensure compatibility with overall MEP coordination.
• Assist engineering teams in quantity take-offs and technical documentation when required.
• Conduct site visits as necessary to verify dimensions, installation conditions, and actual construction requirements.
• Ensure drawings are issued within project deadlines and in accordance with the approved drawing submission schedule.
• Support junior draftsmen and provide technical guidance when required.
• Maintain high drafting standards, accuracy, consistency, and presentation quality across all project drawings.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 7–10 years of MEP drafting experience, preferably with MEP contracting or general contracting companies.
• Minimum 3–5 years of UAE/GCC experience in MEP projects is highly preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of MEP systems and installation requirements.
• Proven experience in preparing MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
• Experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, warehouse, or large-scale building projects will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Good working knowledge of Revit MEP / BIM is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Navisworks and clash coordination will be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of:

• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP design drawings accurately.
• Strong understanding of drawing standards, layers, scales, dimensions, sections, and detailing.

• Currently available in the UAE.
• Immediate joining is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with an established MEP contracting company.
• Strong hands-on exposure to construction-site coordination.
