Senior MEP Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering

• Review mechanical design drawings, specifications, calculations, and shop drawings.
• Supervise HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, and utility systems installation.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Review material submittals, method statements, RFIs, and technical submissions.
• Conduct site inspections and quality audits.
• Verify testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, and local authority regulations.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines.

Electrical Coordination Experience

• Coordinate mechanical and electrical systems to avoid design and installation conflicts.
• Review major electrical components affecting MEP integration such as:
• LV/MV systems
• Generators
• UPS systems
• Lighting systems
• Fire alarm systems
• BMS and ELV systems
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Ensure proper interface management between mechanical and electrical works.
• Support commissioning activities involving integrated MEP systems.

PMC Responsibilities

• Act as the client's technical representative.
• Attend progress, technical, and coordination meetings.
• Review contractors' schedules and monitor progress.
• Prepare technical reports, NCRs, site observation reports, and monthly progress reports.
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Master's Degree is an advantage.
• Professional registration or certification preferred.
• 10-15+ years of experience in MEP projects.
• Minimum 5 years in PMC/consultancy roles.
• Experience in high-rise buildings, commercial developments, hospitals, airports, or mega projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems with good exposure to electrical engineering disciplines.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Firefighting, and Infrastructure Utilities.
• Working knowledge of electrical power and ELV systems.
• Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and MS Office.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong report writing and problem-solving abilities.
