Senior Metallurgical Engineer

• At least 10 years' experience in process flowsheet development and optimization, equipment sizing and selection, capital and operating cost estimation
• Proficient in developing detailed material and utility consumption models for the processing plant, including water, power and reagents
• Proficient in operation of metallurgical testing and analytical equipment including generation and interpretation of data.

Senior Metallurgical Engineer duties and responsibilities:

1. Ore Characterization and Test Work Program Design: Defining the scope of metallurgical testing, overseeing laboratory and pilot plant programs, and analyzing results to determine optimal processing routes. Interpret metallurgical performance across ore types, including variations in grade, lithology, and impurities.

2. Process Flowsheet Development and Optimization: Designing, evaluating, and selecting the most economically viable and technically sound mineral processing and metal extraction flowsheets.

3. Mass and Energy Balance Calculations: Developing detailed material and utility consumption models for the proposed plant, including water, power, and reagents.

4. Equipment Sizing and Selection: Specifying and sizing major process equipment (e.g., crushers, mills, flotation cells, reactors) and providing technical data for vendor inquiries and procurement.

5. Capital and Operating Cost Estimation (CAPEX/OPEX): Contributing metallurgical data to estimate the capital cost of the processing plant and the operating costs related to consumables, power, and labor. Provide throughput and recovery models for financial modeling.

6. Risk Assessment: Identifying and quantifying technical risks associated with the chosen metallurgy and process and developing mitigation strategies.

7. Report Generation: Compiling comprehensive technical reports detailing the metallurgical findings, process design, cost estimates, and overall technical and economic viability of the project.

8. Compliance: Ensuring the proposed process adheres to relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
