Senior Metals Trader

Physical Base Metals and/or Rare Earths Trading

We are interested in speaking with experienced Physical Metals Traders for senior opportunities within an established international commodity trading business.

The focus is on commercially driven individuals with a proven track record in physical base metals and/or Rare Earths trading, strong industry relationships and the ability to develop and manage profitable trading books across North American and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate, structure and execute physical metals transactions across copper, aluminium, zinc, nickel, lead and other non-ferrous metals.
• Develop and manage relationships with producers, smelters, merchants, industrial consumers and other trading counterparties.
• Identify new trading opportunities, expand existing commercial flows and develop profitable trading strategies.
• Manage trading positions, pricing exposure, credit risk and counterparty relationships.
• Coordinate with logistics, operations, finance and risk management teams to ensure efficient execution of physical transactions.
• Utilise LME, CME and other relevant instruments to manage commodity price exposure.
• Contribute to the development and expansion of physical metals trading activities across North America.

Candidate Requirements

• Extensive experience in physical base metals trading, ideally gained within a commodity trading house, merchant or producer.
• Demonstrable track record of generating trading P&L.
• Established commercial relationships across the physical metals supply chain.
• Strong understanding of physical metals pricing, logistics, trade finance and risk management.
• Experience trading within North American markets, with international exposure advantageous.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to originate business independently.
• Previous experience developing new trading books or business lines would be advantageous.
