About The Role The Senior Microbiologist provides technical leadership and oversight of Medline's microbiological control, environmental monitoring and sterility assurance programs to support the manufacture of safe, compliant and high-quality products. The role acts as the site subject matter expert for microbiology and contamination control, providing risk-based technical advice, leading microbiological investigations and validation activities, and ensuring programs remain effective, scientifically justified and aligned with applicable regulatory, ISO, quality system and business requirements.

Job Description MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as subject matter expert (SME) for laboratory, customers, and divisions.
• Develop timelines for all projects and ensure that deadlines and goals are being met as assigned by management.
• Author and review laboratory procedures, protocols, and test data, calculations and results for accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct, develop, transfer, and validate microbiological methods on raw materials, finished goods, stability, and R&D samples under minimum supervision.
• Perform OOS, OOCAL, Deviation, investigations under minimum supervision.
• Assist in development of environmental procedures, validation methods, and supporting work related to production, and R&D.

Education: MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related science.

Certification / Licensure:

• None

Work Experience:

• At least 4 year of experience in QC and/or R&D microbiology laboratory.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and LIMS.

Work Experience:

• Experience with testing antimicrobial products/materials.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Knowledge of R&D and/or QC Microbiology compendial test methods.
• Able to determine if a gap analysis is necessary.
