What they need

About Quarterhorse

Quarterhorse Solutions builds custom fabrication projects for interior designers, architects, developers, and creative agencies. Our work spans architectural millwork, feature walls, signage, displays, and specialty fabrication.

Some projects are highly custom, while others are repeatable and process-driven, but all of them require care, coordination, and a commitment to doing things properly.

We’re a collaborative team that values craftsmanship, clear communication, and creativity.

The Role

We’re looking for a senior, experienced millwork professional who is comfortable working across fabrication, CNC output, shop execution, and installation. This is a hands-on role, with active involvement in fabrication, assembly, and installation, not just shop drawings or CNC output.

Our work includes a mix of repeatable fabrication and custom builds, such as feature walls, branded environments, displays, signage, integrated lighting elements, and specialty installations. Experience working across a range of materials and build types is required.

This role sits at the intersection of planning and execution. You will help translate designs and concepts into clear build strategies, produce accurate shop drawings and CNC files, fabricate and assemble work in the shop, and support installations in the field.

You’ll work closely with Account Managers, Production, and other fabricators to ensure projects are well thought through, efficient to build, and executed to a high standard.

Mentorship and collaboration are key parts of this role. We’re looking for someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, and is open to feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review client designs, sketches, and project requirements and determine practical build approaches
  • Produce clear, accurate shop drawings and CNC-ready files
  • Operate CNC equipment and support fabrication workflows
  • Fabricate and assemble project builds in the shop and on-site as required
  • Support and lead on-site installations as required
  • Provide material takeoffs and fabrication time estimates
  • Identify build challenges early and work collaboratively on solutions
  • Order materials and support inventory planning for assigned projects
  • Manage your own workload and support other team members when needed
  • Collaborate respectfully across departments to deliver quality work

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in custom, specialty, and architectural millwork
  • Strong hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, and installation is required
  • Experience fabricating feature walls, displays, signage, integrated elements, or similar custom build work is an asset
  • Experience working with a range of materials, including wood, MDF, laminate, veneers, acrylics, alupanel, and mixed-material assemblies.
  • Strong hands-on fabrication experience in a professional shop environment
  • CNC experience, including file preparation and machine operation
  • Proficient in Rhino, AutoCAD, and EnRoute, with experience using additional CNC, design or fabrication software as an asset
  • Expert-level ability to create shop drawings that translate cleanly from screen to shop to site
  • Ability to produce 3D renderings and technical drawings to support concepts and build plans
  • Strong understanding of materials, joinery, finishes, and real-world fit and alignment
  • Installation experience and comfort working on commercial job sites
  • High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • Clear communicator who works well in a team setting
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation

Leadership & Team Fit

This role includes mentorship and technical leadership within the shop.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Supports and helps elevate others
  • Communicates openly and respectfully
  • Takes ownership of mistakes and works toward solutions
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Prioritizes collaboration and shared success

This role is best suited for individuals who thrive in collaborative environments and value accountability and feedback.

This Role Is a Good Fit If You…

  • Enjoy being involved in both planning and hands-on fabrication
  • Are comfortable balancing repeatable production work with custom builds
  • Take pride in building things that fit properly and install cleanly
  • Value teamwork, communication, and shared responsibility
  • Want to contribute to a shop where quality and culture matter

What We Offer

  • $40–$50/hr, based on experience
  • Extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Full-time hours
  • A collaborative, respectful shop environment
  • Interesting projects with a mix of custom and standard fabrication
  • Company events and a down-to-earth team culture
