About Murena

Murena SAS builds privacy-respecting mobile and cloud products: /e/OS, a de-Googled Android OS, and Murena Workspace, a cloud suite based on Nextcloud. We are a fully remote, multicultural team and most of our work is open source.

About this role

You will join an experienced Android / AOSP team to implement our product roadmap. We are looking for a senior engineer who brings complementary experience in architecture, industrialization and engineering practices, and who enjoys sharing it. Together with the team, you will work on CI/CD, automated testing and code quality, and explore AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android and AOSP components of /e/OS in Java and Kotlin
• Design software architecture for new features and refactorings
• Industrialize team practices: CI/CD, automated tests, code quality checks
• Work across the stack when needed: REST APIs, local Docker environments for testing
• Share your experience with the team through code reviews, pairing and technical discussions
• Help the team adopt AI-assisted development tools

Requirements

• 8+ years of Android development, with production experience on AOSP or the Android framework
• Strong Java and Kotlin, and experience with Gradle build systems
• Experience designing maintainable software architectures
• Experience setting up or improving CI/CD and automated testing
• Experience sharing knowledge and acting as a technical reference within a team
• Comfortable with REST APIs and local Docker environments
• Solid Git skills
• Fluent English, written and spoken (mandatory)
• Experience working in a remote team

Nice to have

• Experience with the AOSP build system (Makefile, Blueprints)
• Interest in, or experience with, AI-assisted development tools
• Contributions to open-source projects

Team

You will work with the Android / AOSP engineers and the QA and release contributors on /e/OS. We work remotely and asynchronously.

Hiring process

Three conversations, then an offer, with no long wait in between:

1. Getting to know each other (HR). If your profile looks like a good match, we invite you to a first chat within a week of your application.
2. Meeting the technical team. If it goes well, you talk with the people you would work with, the week after.
3. Meeting our CEO. If you are selected, a final conversation with our CEO.
4. Making you an offer. If everyone is aligned, we send you an offer.

We aim to complete all interviews by mid-November 2026 and to be able to make an offer by the end of November. This may vary depending on the number of applications we receive.
