Senior MQ Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time / FTE
Schedule: Standard EST Hours + rotational on-call as needed

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior MQ Engineer to support a mission-critical environment where reliability, security, and performance matter. You’ll take ownership of IBM MQ infrastructure, help optimize messaging systems, and provide technical expertise across a geographically distributed environment.

This is an on-site role in Annapolis Junction, MD. An active Secret clearance is required.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain IBM MQ infrastructure, including queue managers, channels, queues, and MQ objects.
• Manage MQ clustering, multi-instance queue managers, and high-availability solutions.
• Monitor and optimize MQ performance, capacity, and system reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and messaging issues.
• Support application teams with MQ integration and technical guidance.
• Implement security controls, encryption, access management, and auditing.
• Support upgrades, patches, documentation, and continuous improvements.
• Participate in a 24x7x365 rotational on-call schedule when required.

What You Bring

• 12+ years of relevant professional experience.
• 5+ years of Unix experience.
• 5+ years of DevOps / Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM MQ or comparable messaging technologies.
• Ability to work independently in a mission-critical environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• IBM MQ/System Administration certification is a plus.

Clearance & Eligibility

• Active Secret security clearance required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Dual citizens cannot be considered for this position.
• Candidates must be able to commute to Annapolis Junction, MD for daily on-site work.
• Relocation candidates may be considered; relocation assistance is not guaranteed.
• The employer cannot sponsor or maintain higher-level clearances.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
