Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support database administration, performance optimization, and cloud database operations. The selected candidate will work with an engineering and operations team to maintain database availability, troubleshoot technical issues, and support SQL Server and cloud database environments.

The role also involves application support and help desk responsibilities as part of a team rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server and cloud databases to ensure uptime and availability.
• Manage SQL Server clustering, mirroring, failover, and high-availability configurations.
• Troubleshoot database and application issues related to connectivity, access, and security.
• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot long-running SQL queries.
• Install, upgrade, patch, and migrate SQL Server databases.
• Support SQL Server 2019 and later versions, including SQL Server 2022 and newer.
• Develop, debug, and optimize Transact-SQL (T-SQL) queries and scripts.
• Utilize operating system scripting tools for database maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Support SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS environments.
• Work with Azure Cloud and other cloud database technologies.
• Review existing database implementations and recommend improvements.
• Apply data modeling principles and improve database administration processes.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams and communicate technical information effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in SQL Server performance tuning.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in coding and debugging Transact-SQL.
• Minimum 2 years of experience installing, upgrading, patching, and migrating SQL Server databases.
• At least 1 year of experience with Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks , or a relevant certification in lieu of experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent skills, knowledge, and work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using standard requirements and design documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL Server 2019 or later.
• Knowledge of SQL Server clustering, mirroring, and high availability.
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
• Exposure to cloud database administration using Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Experience supporting large-scale databases in Windows environments.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to undergo a fingerprint-based background check.
• Must be willing to undertake relevant technical training at their own expense to stay current with the technologies used in the role.
