Senior Network and Security Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network & Security Engineer to drive the technical delivery, operational management, and modernization of our Fortinet SD-WAN and Security platforms , while overseeing our legacy Cisco network environment . This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, security, performance, and scalability across the network landscape while leading incidents, changes, and strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Ownership & Service Management

• Serve as the technical owner for Fortinet SD-WAN, security platforms, and legacy Cisco network services.
• Manage architecture, configurations, lifecycle planning, and support standards.
• Identify end-of-life risks and develop upgrade, migration, or replacement strategies.

Incident & Problem Management

• Lead the response to major incidents affecting SD-WAN, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, security services, and application connectivity.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and vendors to restore services quickly and safely.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.

Change Management & Governance

• Oversee network and security changes including configurations, firmware upgrades, routing, switching, and connectivity enhancements.
• Ensure proper risk assessment, testing, approvals, implementation planning, and post-change validation.
• Maintain compliance with operational and security governance standards.

Project Delivery & Transformation

• Lead and support key initiatives including:
• SD-WAN deployments
• Network and firewall upgrades
• Site migrations
• Cloud connectivity projects
• Network segmentation programs
• Cisco modernization and replacement initiatives
• Manage project scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, testing, and operational handover.

Network Architecture & Standards

• Review and approve technical designs across Fortinet and Cisco environments.
• Ensure solutions meet requirements for resiliency, security, performance, scalability, and operational support.
• Define and maintain architecture standards and best practices.

Security & Risk Management

• Govern network security controls, including firewall policies, VPN access, segmentation, routing controls, and privileged access management.
• Coordinate remediation of vulnerabilities, audit findings, and security risks.
• Implement compensating controls for legacy infrastructure where required.

Monitoring & Service Performance

• Oversee monitoring of network health, capacity, availability, application performance, and security events.
• Analyze trends and drive continuous service improvements.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary technical contact for network, security, cloud, application, service desk, and vendor teams.
• Manage escalations and communicate technical risks, impact assessments, and project progress to stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and support teams.
• Ensure operational readiness through documentation, runbooks, escalation procedures, and skills development.
• Promote knowledge transfer and reduce dependency on individual specialists.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain architecture diagrams, asset inventories, lifecycle records, operational procedures, change records, and audit documentation.
• Ensure accurate documentation of dependencies between Fortinet and Cisco environments.

Continuous Improvement & Modernization

• Drive initiatives to improve reliability, automation, security, and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain a roadmap for reducing technical debt and modernizing legacy infrastructure.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet SD-WAN, FortiGate Firewalls, VPNs, and Network Security Solutions .
• Deep knowledge of Cisco networking technologies , including routing, switching, and legacy network environments.
• Proven experience leading major incidents, change management processes, and large-scale network transformation projects .
• Strong understanding of network architecture, cloud connectivity, security best practices, and operational governance.
• Excellent stakeholder management, vendor coordination, and leadership skills.
• Experience in highly available enterprise network environments.

Preferred Certifications

• Fortinet NSE / FCSS / FCX certifications
• Cisco CCNP or CCIE
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management certification
