Senior Network Automation Engineer - Major Bank

A major bank in Sydney is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

• Design deploy, operate, and enhance the software platforms and automation systems that underpin modern network engineering.
• Transform complex network workflows into scalable, reliable internal tools and services that improve operational efficiency and resilience.
• Collaborate closely with network engineers to understand challenges, develop innovative solutions, and continuously improve how large-scale networks are managed and automated.
• This is a software-first role focused on building robust automation frameworks, platforms, and testing capabilities that support day-to-day network operations.

Key Skills / Experience:

• Networking Software Development – Experience building applications in the networking domain.
• Strong hands-on with Ansible and Terraform, including custom plugins/modules, and familiarity with infrastructure/config-as-code.
• Solid understanding of operating systems, Linux, and container platforms (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python with experience in code reviews, pull requests, and structured problem-solving.
• Ability to write database queries, with working knowledge of MongoDB.
• Experience with testing strategies, build/packaging systems, dependency management, and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins).
