Senior Network Engineer / Network Architect – (Hybrid 2 days office)

Nokia IP/MPLSIf you know Nokia IP/MPLS networks inside out and enjoy being hands-on with complex carrier-grade infrastructure, this could be a great next move.

We’re working with an established NZ organisation looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer / Network Architect to join their team. This is a genuinely technical role where you’ll get involved in both the day-to-day running of the network and some significant upgrade and transformation projects.

What you'll be working on

• Designing and supporting Nokia 7750 SR, 7250 IXR and 7210 SAS environments
• IP/MPLS, VPRNs, VPLS, Epipe, LSPs, SDPs and traffic engineering
• BGP routing, Internet transit and peering, including IX and bilateral peering
• IPv4/IPv6, RPKI, route policy, FlowSpec and route monitoring
• DDoS protection and mitigation using Corero
• Network upgrades, migrations and optimisation
• QoS, routing and network performance
• Troubleshooting complex network and customer issues
• Building new services, Internet breakouts and configuration automation
• Performance testing and fault isolation

There is also a reasonable after-hours on-call roster, expected to be around once every 4–7 weeks, and less frequently for architect-level engineers.

The interesting stuff ahead

There’s a solid pipeline of work coming up, including a multi-year core network refresh, where you'll help shape the target architecture and migration strategy.

You'll also get involved in a FortiGate firewall cluster consolidation and refresh, plus upgrades to the BNG/LNS environment, covering IPoE/PPPoE, L2TP, RADIUS and CGNAT.
What we're looking forYou'll ideally come from a telco, ISP or service provider environment and have strong hands-on experience with Nokia carrier networking.
We're particularly interested in people who understand BGP and IP/MPLS at a deep level and are comfortable moving between architecture/design, implementation and complex troubleshooting.
You don't need to tick every box, but solid Nokia experience will be important.
