Senior Network Engineer - (B2B)

Location: Remote (Romania)

Contract: B2B / Freelance, 12 months with intent to extend

Rate: €300–€340 per day , dependent on experience

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer with strong SD-WAN experience to join a global Enterprise Data Centre and Network organisation. You will support the deployment and operation of campus SD-WAN and backbone network services across enterprise sites and data centres.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, migrate and operate SD-WAN and WAN infrastructure across campus and data centre environments, preferably Cisco Viptela and/or Juniper SD-WAN.

• Transition legacy WAN networks to software defined models using SDN, automation and orchestration.

• Integrate the SD-WAN edge with campus LAN and data centre routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VRF segmentation, high availability).

• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize SD-WAN performance, including latency, loss, jitter, application aware routing and QoS.

• Work with cross domain teams on DNS, routing, security controls and coordinated change execution.

• Create runbooks, templates and operational documentation.

• Support incident, problem and change processes, and coordinate with carriers and vendors on circuit turn ups, migrations and cutovers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant IT infrastructure experience.

• 5+ years of network, WAN or SD-WAN engineering experience in enterprise scale routed networks.

• 3+ years of hands on SD-WAN implementation experience, preferably Cisco Viptela and/or Juniper SD-WAN, including policy design, segmentation and template driven configuration.

• Strong routing and troubleshooting skills across OSI layers, including BGP, OSPF, VRF, NAT, DHCP and DNS.

• Experience integrating SD-WAN edge platforms with campus LAN and data centre environments, including resiliency design.

• Working knowledge of SD-WAN controller and management plane concepts, centralised provisioning and monitoring.

Nice to Have

• Cisco Viptela experience, including vManage, templates and platform upgrades.

• Experience executing large scale network migrations and cutovers, including hypercare.

• Knowledge of carrier circuit delivery and vendor coordination.

• Experience working within a formal service management framework (incident, change and problem management).

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non technical teams.
