Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain advanced data center network infrastructure supporting high-performance computing and next-generation networking environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, and Spine-Leaf data center architectures, along with hands-on expertise in Linux-based network operating systems. Experience with Dell SONiC and NVIDIA Cumulus Linux is highly desirable.
As a key member of the Networking team, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performance network solutions. You will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers, contribute to network architecture and documentation, and support on-site deployments and troubleshooting activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain complex Layer 2/Layer 3 data center network architectures.
- Implement and manage Spine-Leaf network fabrics using BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, ECMP, MCLAG, and LACP.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Dell SONiC and NVIDIA Cumulus Linux network switches and associated network infrastructure.
- Work with Linux-based network operating systems, including Debian-based environments, to support network configuration, automation, troubleshooting, and operational management.
- Design and optimize highly available, scalable, and resilient data center networks supporting high-bandwidth and low-latency workloads.
- Support the implementation and troubleshooting of RoCEv2 (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) for high-performance, low-latency data transfers.
- Collaborate with systems, compute, storage, security, and infrastructure teams to translate business and technical requirements into effective network solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues involving routing, switching, overlays, underlays, redundancy, and network performance.
- Contribute to network design documentation, configuration standards, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to improve team capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Stay current with emerging networking technologies, industry best practices, and advancements in high-performance data center networking.
- Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally to support customer-site installations, deployments, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex data center networks.
- Strong hands-on expertise with BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, and Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching.
- Experience designing and deploying Spine-Leaf data center fabric architectures.
- Experience with network redundancy and high-availability technologies, including MCLAG and LACP.
- Strong understanding of Linux-based networking environments and network operating system administration.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting, packet analysis, routing protocols, and performance optimization.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Willingness to learn and develop expertise in RoCEv2 and high-performance Ethernet networking.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
- Current IAM Level II certification or qualification meeting applicable DoD 8570 requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Dell SONiC and/or NVIDIA Cumulus Linux network operating systems.
- Experience with BGP EVPN/VXLAN-based network fabrics on SONiC or Cumulus Linux.
- Experience with Debian Linux administration, command-line troubleshooting, and Linux networking utilities.
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies and concepts transferable to Linux-based network operating systems.
- Knowledge of RoCEv2, RDMA, lossless Ethernet, congestion management, and high-performance computing network design.
- Familiarity with NVIDIA GPU infrastructure and NVLink technology.
- Experience with LDAP-based authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) integrations.
- Experience with SNMP-based network monitoring, telemetry, and performance management.
- Experience with network automation, scripting, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
