Senior Network Engineer

Context

A European energy infrastructure group is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join its network team. The team is responsible for the configuration, security and operation of the network used in both industrial (OT) and office (IT) environments, supporting activities that run 24/7. It works across sites in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland, and contributes to several projects: connectivity for a new data centre, securing and connecting to the cloud, WAN modernisation, and functional changes requested by application teams.

Missions

- Operate and support the network that runs 24/7 industrial and office activities

- Prepare and execute changes in an IT and OT environment

- Work on the routing, switching and software aspects of the network

- Take part in the deployment and maintenance of IT systems

- Contribute to network projects: connectivity of a new data centre, cloud security and connectivity, WAN modernisation

- Support application teams with functional network changes

- Support colleagues in Belgium and across Europe

- Collaborate with the other ICT teams

Working conditions

- Location: split between two sites in the Brussels area (Brussels and Anderlecht)

- Start: as soon as possible

- Duration: initial 1 year, renewable

- First 3 months fully on site, then hybrid: 3 days on site and 2 days of your choice, provided the work allows it

- Occasional travel to other Belgian sites when required

- On-call duty: maximum 1 week out of 4

- 24/7 support environment, multi-site in Europe

Profile

- Senior-level experience as a network engineer

- Good understanding of firewall technologies

- In-depth knowledge of routing and switching protocols: OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP, MST

- Experience with automation: Python, Ansible

- Knowledge of backend monitoring tools, NAC and central syslog

- TACACS and RADIUS

- Cisco Wireless, ACI and Cisco SD-WAN

- Cloud technologies

- Languages: Dutch or French, and fluent English

- Education: degree in computer science or IT

- Driving licence and personal car required

- Willing to take on-call duty (maximum 1 week out of 4)

- Careful and methodical in preparing and executing changes

- Team player, ready to support colleagues and collaborate with other ICT teams
