Senior Node js developer ( senior backend Engineer )

About the Role

You will own the backend services that run the exchange: order flow, wallets, deposits and withdrawals, payments, and internal tools. These systems move real customer funds, so reliability, security and throughput come first. As a senior engineer, you will set engineering standards, lead design decisions, handle production incidents, and mentor mid-level developers.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain scalable Node.js services (REST and WebSocket) for order flow, market data, wallets, payments and internal tools.

Build correct, high-throughput money-movement logic: balance ledgers, deposits, withdrawals and settlements, using idempotency, atomic transactions and reconciliation.

Design schemas and optimise queries on MySQL/PostgreSQL at scale: indexing, partitioning, transactions, replication and slow-query tuning.

Use Redis in production for caching, pub/sub, queues, rate limiting and sessions.

Build event-driven pipelines with Kafka, RabbitMQ or BullMQ, with retries, dead-letter queues and back-pressure.

Integrate with blockchain nodes and RPC providers, liquidity partners, payment gateways and KYC vendors.

Apply security by design: OWASP Top 10, secrets management, API authentication, rate limiting, audit logging and access control.

Own observability: structured logs, metrics, tracing, dashboards and alerts; lead incident response and blameless post-mortems.

Set engineering standards through code reviews, design docs, testing practices and CI/CD.

Mentor mid-level developers and work with front-end, DevOps, product, compliance and security teams.

Must-Have Skills

6–7 years of backend development, including 4+ years in Node.js with Express, Fastify or NestJS.

Deep MySQL or PostgreSQL knowledge: indexing, transactions and isolation levels, replication, and slow-query tuning.

Redis in production: clustering, persistence (RDB/AOF), Streams and BullMQ.

Message queues: Kafka, RabbitMQ or BullMQ.

Docker, Linux and Nginx (reverse proxy, load balancing, TLS).

Security: OWASP practices, secrets management, idempotent APIs and audit logging.

REST and WebSocket API design for high-concurrency, low-latency systems.

Experience running and debugging production systems: monitoring, on-call and incident handling.

Proven experience leading code reviews and mentoring developers.

Strong ownership, clear written communication and sound engineering judgement.

Good to Have

Experience on a crypto exchange, fintech, payments or trading platform.

Blockchain RPC integration (EVM chains, Bitcoin, Tron, Solana): deposit detection, confirmations and withdrawal broadcasting.

Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).

TypeScript across backend services.

Matching-engine, order-book or market-data system design.

Observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry.

Awareness of Indian VDA compliance: KYC/AML, FIU-IND reporting and TDS under Section 194S.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per year
